I adore the site Little Paper Planes! They always have interesting artwork that someone like myself (20 something living in New York) can actually afford. We aren't in college anymore kiddos, time to take down the posters and replace them with some nice framed prints.

Here are two prints I'm thinking about getting... Brandi Strickland's work is neat.

Studio Visit: Damon Soule

Last night we headed to Brooklyn to visit artist Damon Soule at his DUMBO studio. The art was amazing, company spectacular and good times were had by all. Here are a couple of my favorite pieces..

Video Art

Unofficial Music Video for Metronomy- On the Motorway by Jul&MatCompany, just sort of stumbled upon it by accident, I think it has some really cool visual ideas. Neat stuff!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs!

Some pictures I took at the Yeah Yeah Yeahs concert at Radio City Music Hall on Wednesday. It was incredible!

Illustration: Jaron Kettunen

If the Joker had walked into an Egon Schiele Exhibit in Tim Burton's "Batman" and defaced everything with graffiti you'd have Jarno Kettunen's illustrations. Art love child of the Joker and Egon Schiele? I definitely like where this is going..

Family Matters

My Big sister's getting married!

I consider myself an open minded, pretty liberal young lady but I've always thought there was something very romantic about tradition, ceremony and symbolism, all of which are found in this piece. "The Arnolfini Wedding" contains so much content that one cannot begin to process all of the information in one sitting. It contains insane amounts of symbolism and was quite ahead of it's time conceptually. The mirror behind the couple portrays a perfect representation of interior space which was a revolutionary use of perspective and illusion at the time. The cherries on the tree outside the window symbolize love, oranges which lie on the window sill and chest may symbolized wealth, and the dog at the couples feet represent fidelity. It's the perfect piece to discussing marriage.
Cheers to Kara and Shawn! I'm working on your invitations as we speak!

NYC Artist: Yigal Ozeri

A couple weeks ago I attended the Yigal Ozeri: Desire for Anima opening at the Mike Weiss Gallery and I've been raving about it ever since. His hyper-realistic portraits showcase his masterful execution and technique. The paintings were stunning, luminescent, his concept of light and composition were incredible. I'm a sucker for gorgeous woman in perfect lighting what can I say! I'd recommend this show to those who can appreciate the extremely skill that this kind of illusionism entails. The show runs September 10, 2009 - October 24, 2009.

Haunting: Jun Takahashi and Fever Ray

Jun Takahashi's Graces and photos of Fever Ray/ Fever Ray Video-When I grow up. Both are reigning my visual world at the moment. I'm drawn like a moth to a flame, and they work so well together.

Internship Joshua Liner Gallery!

I recently started an internship at the Joshua Liner Gallery and I couldn't be more thrilled! The artists are incredible, Josh and Tim couldn't be nicer and I feel very lucky to have this opportunity. I feel like this is a step in the right direction and something I'm very proud to be a part of. I'm Finally doing something that I care so much about and back in the creative world, seems like since I moved to the city I've been focused on everything but. I'm feeling optimistic and extremely busy right now!

This week we have the Evan Hecox Gallery Reception Saturday September 12 from 6-9pm!
